Activities in the pickering area

Cropton Forest is an ancient woodland with nature trails and cycling paths. Activities are bookable at the central hub, such as guided tours, archery lessons or a mountain bike adventure.

If you enjoy learning about beer, then there’s the Cropton Brewery Tour to experience and there’s even a tasting at the end. The market town of Pickering is nearby with its ruined castle, antique shops, museum and medieval church.

Head over to the coast for the nearby seaside towns of Scarborough, Whitby and Filey. There are long coastal walking routes here and sandy beaches that stretch on for miles. Scarborough is a traditional seaside town with castle ruins, a Sealife centre and plenty of shops and eateries to visit.

You can book a boat trip from here that takes you out to sea and along the coast. The North York Moors are great for hikes in the wild countryside or a ride on a steam railway.

A Final Note

Cropton Forest is pretty retreat in a Yorkshire woodland. There are 57 timber lodges of varying size in amongst the trees, so it’s not too crowded and very peaceful. Ramble along the nature trails or hire a bike and cycle together as a family.

The town of Pickering is just 7 miles away where there is a heritage trail, choice of restaurants and a small museum. With the coast around 45 minutes away, there’s Whitby or Scarborough to visit as well.

There’s plenty to see if you want to explore the area, or with such a beautiful setting, you could just stay in the forest and take a well-deserved rest.
