Activities in the Portreath Area

Gwel An Mor is positioned above the small fishing port of Portreath. There’s a sandy beach where active types can learn how to surf or try their hand at kayaking.

Redruth, an old mining town, is 5 miles from the park where the attraction called Cornwall Gold is located. The whole family can visit the tin mines and stop for refreshment at the tea room. In the town there are antique shops to browse, a couple of bakeries and a pub.

The popular seaside resort of St Ives is just 16 miles away if you want a more lively town. The cobbled streets are lined with boutique shops and wonderful places to eat. The Tate has a gallery in St Ives and is well worth a visit.

A Final Note

Cornwall has long been a favourite British holiday destination. The beaches are sandy, the villages picturesque and the food is family-friendly.

The lodges at Gwel An Mor are beautifully fitted and make ideal accommodation for groups large and small. With the indoor pool, golf course, climbing activity centre, a farm and outdoor games, there is plenty to do on-site.

The sun decks and hot tubs at each lodge mean you can take it easy too if you just want to relax for a while. Portreath is on the doorstep for local shops, and Redruth is just a few miles away for a choice of places to eat and drink.

Don’t forget to enjoy a clotted-cream tea while you’re in the area – they are not to be missed.
