Activities in the Hailsham area

Delightful country pubs, magnificent castles, abbeys, gardens, and exhilarating outdoor activities. Eastbourne’s famous cliffs and beach are just 4 miles away, while Hastings, historic Lewes and vibrant Brighton are all a short drive away.

There is something for the whole family to visit in the nearby towns. Art lovers will get great fulfilment when visiting the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery. This art gallery and museum is a family-friendly museum with amazingly diverse collections. Established over 125 years ago, the Museum offers local visitors the opportunity to explore art, culture, and history from around the world.

Learn about the area from prehistory to the Saxons and The Story of Hastings. Wildlife is displayed in dioramas of different local habitats and visitors can discover the regions prehistoric past in the interactive Dinosaur gallery. The most spectacular part of the Museum is the Durbar Hall, which contains the World Art displays.

The younger members of the family will be enthralled at the marine life at the Blue Reef Aquarium, which is located in the historic Old Town Hastings. Get up close and personal with seahorses, native sharks, giant octopus and hundreds of amazing marine creatures. At the aquarium's heart is a giant ocean display. Take a walk through the enchanting underwater tunnel and come face to face with shoals of colourful fish. Get hands-on with the with Remarkable Reptiles during animal encounters.
