Activities Around Tarbolton

Tarbolton is just 8 miles from the town of Ayr and the coast, and it's only 33 miles to Glasgow. With golf courses on the doorstep and the Galloway Forest under an hour’s drive south, there is something for everyone in the area.

Tarbolton is a village best known for its connection with the Scottish poet Robbie Burns. He set up his Bachelors’ Club debating society here, and today, the 17th-century building is a museum that welcomes visitors from far and wide.

To blow the cobwebs away, take a walk along part of the 100-mile Ayrshire Coastal Path. Enjoyable in summer or winter, a ramble along this route will give you far-reaching views.

To the south of Ayr is the Galloway Forest – a 300 mile square area of ancient woodland and wild moorlands. The wildlife here is spectacular and includes red deer, wild goats and birds of prey.

It's also a Dark Sky area so go after dusk and enjoy some star gazing. Located on a cliff overlooking the sea is Culzean Castle. Designed in the 18th century, the castle boasts a pond, caves, private beach and flamboyant gardens. A whole day’s worth of activities can be found here.

About the property

This former pub has 7 bedrooms over 3 floors and can sleep up to 27 people. Four bedrooms have a king-size bed plus a double sofa-bed, 3 bedrooms have a king-size bed plus either a bunk bed or single sofa-beds. Three bedrooms come with en-suite facilities, and there's a family bathroom plus 2 family shower rooms.

The living room has a 50-inch TV and cinema screen. In the dining room there's a large table, and the kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge-freezer. The private hot tub is in the courtyard along with chairs for sitting outside. Parking for 2 cars and bike store.
