activities in the Hawick Area

There is so much to see and do in Somerset that many visitors return year after year to explore the many delights, from cider to cheese, beaches, theme parks and a rich heritage, this county has it all

The village of Newcastleton, is just a few miles from the English border in the Liddesdale Valley and is famous for Hermitage Castle which sits close by and is where Mary Queen of Scots met her lover the 4th Earl of Boswell.

The village is also popular with tourists because of its abundance of outdoor activities, and it boasts an excellent outdoor adventure centre. Further afield, Hawick is well worth a visit as is the lovely town of Melrose where Robert the Bruce’s heart is buried at the abbey.

You could also head over the border to Kielder Water and Forest Park for a fun day of water and land-based activities such as off-road driving, mountain biking kayaking, pony trekking or simply gaze at the clearest night skies in Britain at Kielder Observatory.
