Activities in the Wooley Area

Rose cottage is the ideal getaway for a romantic break or a holiday with family and friends. Stunning views with wildlife and free range hens just outside your front door. The countryside is beautiful and best enjoyed on foot.

There are other tourist attractions in the area, Hadrians’s Wall and Beamish. Roman Emperor Hadrian ordered Hadrian's Wall to be built in AD122. It stretched from the East to West coasts of Britain. The sight of the remnants is spectacular.

Beamish is an open-air museum. The museum's principle is to preserve what used to be everyday life in urban and rural North East England, at the peak of industrialisation in the early 20th century.

Visit Roman Vindolanda formerly a key military post on the northern frontier of Britain. For a family outing visit the Bird of Prey Centre with over 75 birds of prey from around the world.

The centre is situated in the middle of Northumberland’s National Park. Take a trip to Crag Lough an inland lake at the southern edge of Northumberland National Park. Visit Haydon Bridge a small village in Northumberland.

Every year Haydon Bridge has a Summer Exhibition held in the community centre where the works of local artists and photographers are displayed. This event is usually held in June or July.

For the adventurous there are golf courses 2 miles away, fishing, cycling, walking and horse riding. The Northumberland Coast, Newcastle, Durham, the Lake District and Scottish Borders are all a short drive away. You can get your groceries at a shop or have an ale at the pub only 1 mile away.
