Situated close to the market town of Oswestry, spend the day exploring the back streets and the markets. Cross the Welsh border and explore Llangollen, famous for its canal. Visit one of the good selection of cafés, bars and restaurants. 

The vibrant city of Chester is a short drive away. This quaint town offers everything from high street shops to pleasure cruisers and a 1000 year old cathedral. Pay a visit to Valle Crucis Abbey. A visit to this captivating site conjures up the lives of the Cistercian monks who loved all things austere. Work began in 1201. The abbey is one of the best preserved in Wales, 7 centuries down the line. Thanks to the lay brethren the abbey was exceptionally self-sufficient. 

The younger folk will find the Chester Zoo entertaining and educational. The zoo is the UK's number one charity zoo. It houses over 21,000 animals and 500 different species. This includes some of the most endangered species in the world right now. Grab a bite to eat or just a pint to cool yourself down after a day exploring. There are a number of pubs and restaurants to suit any taste. 

If you want a taste of New York in the UK then try Upstairs at The Grill. This is a split-level Manhattan-style steakhouse and intimate cocktail bar located in Chester City Centre. Try their delicious locally sourced dry aged beef. They also have an extensive wine list.
