The village of Newcastleton, is just a few miles from the English border in the Liddesdale Valley and is famous for Hermitage Castle which sits close by and is where Mary Queen of Scots met her lover the 4th Earl of Boswell.
The village is also popular with tourists because of its abundance of outdoor activities, and it boasts an excellent outdoor adventure centre.
Further afield, Hawick is well worth a visit as is the lovely town of Melrose where Robert the Bruce’s heart is buried at the abbey.
